EQUINOX’S THIN LINE: Weight loss might be the number-one motivator for Equinox Fitness members, but scads of them were up in arms about the wiry models featured in the company’s new ad campaign. Many went to town earlier this week on the company’s Facebook page with all kinds of criticism, blasting the Terry Richardson-shot ads for featuring runway-worthy models — as in too thin.

The 55-unit health club chain broke its silence about the dust-up Tuesday. Executive creative director Bianca Kosoy told WWD, “Our campaigns exist at the intersection between fitness and fashion; they are intended to be thought provoking and to generate discussion through their deliberate synthesis of personal motivation and high fashion photography.”

Equinox didn’t plan to offer any more clues Wednesday night at the Brandy Library where select magazine editors were invited to sound off about the scenarios they imagined Richardson had set up in his nine shots. Kosoy planned to keep mum.
