For the second consecutive season, Phillip Lim teamed with art photographer Viviane Sassen to continue their “Romancing Reality” campaign collaboration. They traveled to Bhutan, without a stylist, hair and makeup artist or outside creative direction and cast local girls who had no previous modeling experience. Lim chose Bhutan because it challenged the idea of “happiness” through its government and spiritual culture. Lim first worked with Sassen on his spring 2015 campaign, shot in Morocco with a similar “no frills” philosophy.
The fall images will appear in fall issues of The Gentlewoman, Another, WSJ Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Self Service, Interview, i-D, Dazed and Confused and New York Magazine. The campaign will also be posted around New York City and Los Angeles during the month of September.
