2016 Valentine's Day Store Windows

Although not a public holiday, many countries celebrate Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14.

The day is sometimes referred to as St. Valentine’s Day or the Feast of St. Valentine. According to various legends, Valentine was a Roman bishop who was imprisoned, and later executed, for performing weddings for soldiers, who under Roman law were forbidden to marry. Over the centuries, the day for celebrating love and affection has become synonymous with greeting cards, heart-shaped boxes containing chocolates and other gifts.

Some retailers in their storefronts have highlighted the day with a gift idea or two for anyone so inclined to give.

Here are a selection of some windows from last year celebrating Valentine’s Day. The photos are from the archives of WindowsWear, a resource for retailers, designers, brands and creative professionals researching visuals for inspiration and trends.
