Converse has come a long way from its vintage All Star High Tops. The sneaker brand, a division of Nike, on Friday begins selling an updated silhouette inspired by running called the Thunderbolt Modern. It’s a casual style to wear all day long.
According to the company, the Thunderbolt Modern has a one-piece engineered jacquard upper making it light, Nike Hyperfuse construction for durability and support, a Phylon outsole for cushioning and comfort, and flex grooves for mobility.
“As one of the first pan-athletic brands, the relationship between Converse and running goes back to the 1900s,” said Bryan Cioffi, vice president and creative director of Converse Global Footwear. “The Converse Thunderbolt Modern is a throwback to that heritage, modernized with new Nike materials to give us a glimpse at the beginning of what’s next.” Not too long ago, Converse launched its All Star Modern and Auckland Modern collections, and the Thunderbolt Modern fits right into the group.
The sneaker has a suggested retail price of $130 and comes in an array of colors, like pure platinum, photo blue, gold dart and pine green.
