Highlighting the trans-seasonal benefits of Australian merino wool, Diane von Furstenberg partnered with The Woolmark Co. to produce a series of luxury merino wool sweaters. As part of her spring collection, they are available globally on dvf.com.
To recognize the launch of the lightweight sweaters, von Furstenberg created a short film, highlighting the factory-to-fashion journey as part of their #DVFCraft stories, taking views from an Italian mill through to the DVF design house.
“Featured in our spring campaign, the merino sweaters are star pieces of the season,” said Philip Atkins, vice president of global merchandising at DVF. “Cut in an ultra-fine merino wool blend with figure-flattering stretch, they are soft, breathable and perfect for spring.” He said von Furstenberg is happy to continue to use ultra-fine merino wool in its signature bold color combinations, “and to design garments that speak to our belief in putting the woman’s desire to look and feel good at the core of everything we do.”
There are three pieces in the series, each retailing for around $300.
Stuart McCullough, managing director of The Woolmark Co., said their relationship with von Furstenberg started back in 2012, when she sat on the judging panel of the first International Woolmark Prize. He cited an added bonus of Australian merino wool that worked well in von Furstenberg’s favor. “Breathable and durable, Australian merino wool can also be dyed a variety of vivid colors, complementing the bold signature aesthetic of the Diane von Furstenberg brand.”
