The Netherlands national team will compete at the Olympic Games and international competitions outfitted in Fila apparel and footwear.
It was revealed today that Fila will become the official sponsor of the Netherlands Olympic Committee and affiliated national team until 2022.
Fila has sponsored Dutch “skating emperor” Sven Kramer, his affiliated institution, the Royal Dutch Skating Federation, and the affiliated team since 2014. The scope of this partnership has been extended to include sponsorship of the entire NOC affiliated team.
The Netherlands team achieved fifth place at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and 11th place at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
As part of the agreement, Fila will provide the NOC affiliated national team with training suits, sports footwear, sports apparel for training purposes and awards ceremony attire (excluding competition suits) until 2022, while serving as the official sports apparel sponsor.
In addition, the Netherlands national team players will wear, attend and appear in the victory podium in sports apparel featuring the Fila logo at the Winter and Summer Olympics, including the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in South Korea, 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and at international competitions.
During the agreement ceremony Thursday, Fila chairman Gene Yoon said: “The confidence and trust established as it relates to our background of competing together in international competitions with Sven Kramer and including the Netherlands Royal Dutch Skating Federation (KNSB) and its affiliated athletes helped this sponsorship to be rapidly finalized and that has a particularly poignant meaning.”
He added, “The Netherlands national team’s innate talents, passion and sporting mentality aligns with Fila’s brand identity, and Fila will sincerely strive to help support the Netherlands in making its mark on the international scene by persevering in providing premium sports apparel.”
Fila was founded in 1911 in Biella, Italy. Since 2007, the brand has been owned and operated by Fila Korea Ltd.
