BERLIN — WME/IMG’s multifaceted fashion and arts platform Made will be making its European debut in Berlin in June.
The size and scope of the Berlin kickoff are not known at this time. IMG, producer of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, which runs from June 28-July 1, 2016, said “details on Made Berlin will be announced in the coming weeks.”
Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director of IMG Fashion Events & Properties, commented, “As we look to evolve our offering in Berlin, we’re excited to introduce Made to the region and further support Berlin’s emerging creatives.” Berlin, she added, “is a vibrant creative city at the intersection of fashion, art, and music — three disciplines that Made weaves together seamlessly in its events.”
One long-awaited piece of information, however, has finally been released, and that is the location of the main MBFWB runway. Due to a scheduling conflict with the European Soccer Cup’s fan mile on Strasse des 17 Juni, the tent’s normal location, the major MBFWB runway will now be housed in the Erika Hess Ice Stadium in Wedding. The ice stadium was used for MBFWB two years ago when the fan mile for Soccer World Cup similarly required a change of tent venue.
The second MBFWB site, Me Collector’s Room, will again host smaller shows and presentations on Auguststrasse in Berlin’s Hackesche Markt neighborhood.
