A ZEE FOR QVC: Joe Zee is teaming with QVC for the Styled by Joe Zee line, which will make its debut on the multichannel retailer’s Feb. 28 “Red Carpet Style — Live from L.A.” show.
The awards season-themed program, taking place for the fifth year at the Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills, will feature Zee’s cashmere top and beaded maxiskirt. Priced at $95 and $198 respectively, the items bring a decidedly dressier flair to the offerings, which also include a lace dress from Edge by Jen Rade, a chiffon gown by Nicole Richie Collection, a satin peplum vest by Logo by Lori Goldstein and a half-carat diamond ceramic watch by Isaac Mizrahi Live.
But Elle creative director and television personality Zee designed the rest of the collection to make runway trends accessible to women for day, office and evening.
“I’m hoping this collection can help women connect the dots and infuse cover girl glamour into their everyday looks. So many women love runway fashions, but they need a way to wear them that feels real,” said Zee.
The rest of the spring collection, which will be available in March, includes a ponte blazer, pencil skirt and seamed legging, a V-neck blouse, a printed dress and a color-blocked, zip-front cardigan. The color palette includes pops of citrine, hibiscus, orange and royal blue. Prices range from $43 to $89.
Zee paid special attention to details such as a peplum that zips open on the jacket, buttons on the bottom of the blouse that allow it to be worn draped or flowing, flattering side seams on the leggings and a clavicle-revealing neckline on the cashmere T-shirt.
“I love that QVC was the first in the marketplace to extend that level of expert integration with fashion insiders like myself and Lori Goldstein,” said Zee.
“He’s a natural on camera,” said Doug Howe, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at QVC. “So much of a brand’s success depends on the designers and their point of view. We were impressed with Joe’s passion and credibility.”
Zee is already at work on outerwear and textured pieces for fall 2014.
