Architectural Digest has hired Vicky Lowry as editorial projects director.

Lowry, who reports to AD editor in chief Margaret Russell, joins Condé Nast from Hearst Magazines, where she served as features director of Elle Decor, Veranda and House Beautiful.

Prior to that role, she was executive editor of Elle Decor and Martha Stewart Living.

“Vicky Lowry represents the best in design journalism today,” offered Russell. “An exacting editor and an elegant writer, she has exquisite taste and is deeply passionate about the design world. She is coming to AD at a time of unprecedented multiplatform growth for the brand. We’ve worked together brilliantly in the past, and I look forward to launching innovative projects and ventures with her in the months to come.”

Russell, who made headlines last month with AD’s surprising Kardashian sisters cover, is set to debut its April “Designers at Home” issue next Thursday, featuring Delphine and Reed Krakoff’s East Hampton home named “Lasata.” For those not in the know, “Lasata” was the former summer residence of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The Krakoffs will also join Russell at AD’s 15th Annual Design Show at Pier 94 on March 17 for a noontime chat on the property’s restoration and design origins.
