TIME FOR CHANGE: Time Inc. is shaking up its fashion publications.

The publisher of InStyle and StyleWatch has promoted InStyle editor in chief Ariel Foxman to the role of editorial director for both magazines. As a result, founding StyleWatch editor in chief Susan Kaufman has been let go. Her replacement at StyleWatch will be named shortly by Foxman, who will retain his title as editor in chief of InStyle.

Foxman reports to Evelyn Webster, Time Inc. executive vice president. Executive vice president and chief content officer Norman Pearlstine will have dotted line authority.

“We thank Susan for her service and contributions to StyleWatch and to Time Inc.,” Webster said. The company said that it made the change to align and extend the two fashion-centric titles, by bringing together “a content, services and commerce platform under the InStyle umbrella.”

On the business side, InStyle publisher Nina Lawrence will assume oversight of both titles with StyleWatch publisher Stephanie Sladkus reporting to Lawrence as her number two.

“I am confident that Ariel’s deep understanding of the consumer, coupled with his creative vision and strong business acumen, will lead to growth and opportunity for the StyleWatch brand, as it has for InStyle,” Webster offered. “Nina’s expertise in delivering integrated solutions to advertisers will further strengthen Time Inc.’s growing fashion portfolio.”
