Bonnier Corp. has named Eric Zinczenko chief executive officer.
Formerly the company’s executive vice president, Zinczenko succeeds David Freygang, who will retire after 26 years at the company. In order to help smooth the transition, Freygang will remain on board as a consultant through the end of the year.
“Eric is one of the most respected business leaders in the industry,” said Tomas Franzén, ceo of Bonnier AB and chairman of Bonnier Corp.
Zinczenko, 47, joined Bonnier Corp. from Time Inc. in 2007 as part of Bonnier Corp.’s original management team and was named executive vice president in 2013. Prior to his promotion, Zinczenko led Bonnier Men’s Group, which includes Popular Science, Field & Stream, and Outdoor Life. He was responsible for expanding the brands into a multichannel media group with licensing, events, TV and film, and in 2011, he helped the company acquire Hearst’s Cycle World.
