MARIANI AND MCGREGOR TEAM UP: C&M Media, the New York-based communications and marketing firm founded by Angela Mariani, has forged a strategic partnership with Patrick McGregor’s KP McGregor Consulting.
McGregor will work closely with Mariani and her team on deepening and augmenting the service offering to current C&M clients, which include Moncler, Missoni, Mikimoto, Hanley, Ellery, Ermanno Scervino, Massimo Piombo, SemSem and Via Spiga. McGregor will also work on the development of growth strategies for C&M Media such as expanding social media services as well as synergies between brands and the philanthropic and art worlds.
McGregor’s client roster includes Flagpole Swim, The Eighth, Karma, OuiHours, and fine artists Mark Fox and Ryan Humphrey. He also does special projects for the Woolmark Co.
Each of the firms will retain their own names and individual clients, and McGregor will work two to three days per week out of C&M’s office. McGregor employs two people, while C&M employs 15 people. “We will each continue to manage our respective clients, joining forces when each others expertise adds to the account. However, new business secured together will be shared,” Mariani said.
Asked the purpose of the strategic partnership, Mariani said, “To bring additional momentum to our existing services while keeping the hands-on approach of a smaller agency. Think of it as a bigger “brain-print” rather than a bigger footprint.”
McGregor added, “While my consultancy model has served me and my clients well, being able to rely on the support of a larger team for special initiatives and large events is very appealing to me. And honestly, I wouldn’t ever consider doing this with anyone else.”
Will they eventually merge their business and is this a test phase? “No, this is not a test period, we have worked on a few projects together leading up to this point. A future merger is not out of the question but it’s also not necessarily a pre-requisite,” Mariani said.
Mariani cofounded Crespi & Mariani with Pilar Crespi in 1995, and in 2001, the company became C&M Media and Mariani took on sole ownership.
Prior to launching his consultancy in 2014, McGregor served as Versace’s group director of communications and public relations in Milan; vice president of public relations at BCBG Max Azria Group; vice president of the fashion division of LaForce & Stevens, and public relations manager for North America at Vivienne Westwood.
