In order to meet demand for unscripted television, Condé Nast Entertainment said it developed a new unit called CNE Studios.
Television producer and director Al Edgington will helm the unit as executive vice president and report to CNE president Dawn Ostroff.
“With the explosive demand for television programming, CNE Studios is the natural progression of taking our success in developing and selling unscripted series to the next level,” said Ostroff. “Al’s expertise and keen production abilities will be a tremendous asset as he and Joe LaBracio work closely on building the next phase of our unscripted television business.”
“The opportunity to produce such a wide variety of projects, both from Condé Nast as well as outside sources, is an incredibly exciting prospect,” added Edgington.
Edgington has served as a producer on “The Amazing Race,” as a co-executive producer on “Last Comic Standing” and as an executive producer on “Who Do You Think You Are?” He also worked as a producer of the Academy Awards, oversaw several projects for Sky Television in the U.K. and has extensive live-programming experience, Condé Nast said.
CNE, which was founded in 2011, said it currently has five unscripted TV series in production or on the air, and that it is looking to develop CNE Studios into a “full-service, next-generation production company,” focusing on producing, film, TV and digital video shows.
