EDITORIALIST EXPANDS: Accessories e-commerce destination Editorialist is taking a cue from established media outlets. The site is building out its fashion week coverage with cofounders and co-chief executive officers Kate Davidson Hudson and Stefania Allen, as well as with three contributing writers, covering and reviewing up to 10 accessories collections and brands a day during fashion month. “There is deep user engagement via time spent on site and a lot of that is credited to editorial,” Davidson Hudson said of bulking up content, the majority of which will hit the site within hours of show times. “Our premise is that edit and commerce don’t need to be mutually exclusive, and now everyone is picking up on the tip that there can be a marriage of the two in terms of content creation for e-commerce and vice versa.” This way of thinking is doing well for the two-year-old startup thus far: Sales have grown 300 percent in the past year, a slew of new designers are about to launch their spring collections on the site and Davidson Hudson and Allen are in the midst of fund-raising for a Series A.
