HASHING IT OUT: Fashion brands are keeping it simple with hashtags. According to digital analytics firm Stylophane, #fashion was the most widely used hashtag by brands in December, followed by #regram, #christmas, #style, #love, #OOTD (outfit of the day), #holiday, #repost, #nyc and #inspiration. Nearly 300 brands posted an image or video to Instagram with #fashion, Motel Rocks leading the pack with 84 posts. Topshop Australia came in second with 49 posts, and Free People and Lipsy had 39 and 27, respectively. According to Stylophane, the platform tracks upward of 6,000 apparel and beauty brands globally on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. According to the firm, social-media marketers can use this data to see what’s trending among the fashion, beauty, denim and footwear set, gaining insight into how brands are executing their social-media marketing strategies.
