FAST TIMES AT WARBY PARKER: Fast Company magazine crowned eyewear firm Warby Parker as the most innovative company of 2015. The publication, which ranks 50 companies annually based on originality and pioneering business strategy, heralded Warby Parker for “building the first great made-on-the-Internet brand.”
The magazine touted the company’s results: annual revenues that are “well over $100 million” and a business model that has shrugged off gimmicks, such as a buy-one-give-one strategy, although the company does that, too.
Tech giants Apple, Alibaba, Google and Instagram followed Warby Parker. Color of Change, HBO, Virgin America, IndiGo and Slack rounded out the top 10. Netflix came in 30th and Samsung 47th, while L’Oréal came in 50th.
Fast Co. also ranked top companies by category, with Vice getting the number four spot for marketing and advertising and digital agency Code + Theory nabbing the ninth slot for the design category.
