Veteran television reporter Bill Carter is back in the media business, after he accepted a buyout package from The New York Times late last year.
Carter, who covered television at The Times for more than 25 years, has signed on to host a show for SiriusXM that will launch in late summer.
Dubbed “The Bill Carter Interview,” the one-hour show will air on SiriusXM’s Insight channel 121 on Mondays at 6 p.m. ET. It will feature Carter interviewing entertainment and media figures, and offering news and analysis on topics such as pop culture. Listeners will be invited to call in and join the discussion.
“The thing I have enjoyed most in my career as a journalist has been the opportunity to talk to fascinating, funny and news-making people,” Carter said. “My SiriusXM program will be all about in-depth, engaging conversations with a full range of the performers, writers, producers and executives who are shaping the culture today.”
SiriusXM declined to offer insight into the show’s lineup of guests, apart from the fact that many of the guests will be “major newsmakers.”
