FROM PRINT TO THE WEB: Carmen Borgonovo, senior style editor at British Harper’s Bazaar, is making the leap from editorial to e-commerce, succeeding Luisa De Paula as buying director at in January. After five years in the role, De Paula is leaving the business to pursue new ventures.

Following four years at Harper’s Bazaar and previous roles including accessories director of W magazine, editor of W jewelry and accessories editor of American Vogue, Borgonovo will oversee the seasonal buying strategy and development of the international brand portfolio, bringing new brands into the fold. She will report to ex-Harrods chief executive officer David Worby.

“I’ve edited so much over the last 20 years, thinking about what people want to buy, especially at Harper’s Bazaar on the shopping pages. And with the changing economy, magazine editors have had to think more commercially,” Borgonovo told WWD. “I’m going to spend the first three months at understanding the business before I develop a strategy. In a magazine, you really think about your reader and what they want; going into, I’ll really be thinking about who the customer is now and who I want to bring into the business, and how I’m going to do that.”
