NEW YORK — All that glitters is gold, at least according to Glamour magazine’s latest Glamtone quarterly promotion, which teams a trendy color with a limited-edition beauty or fashion product.

For fall-winter, Glamour points to gold as the hot color, and has tapped Mary Kay’s MK Signature Gold Glimmer Set as its spotlight product. The set features Gold Glimmer Body and Face Gel, Gold Glimmer Lip Gloss and Gold Glimmer Top Coat for Nails, all in a gold quilted bag. The limited-edition products will retail for $32 on or through one of its 700,000 consultants until supplies last, which should be at least through December.

“Gold is the hot color for the season,” said Shannon Summers, director of corporate communications for Mary Kay. She noted the set’s makeup items can be worn alone or in layers and can easily take someone from a daytime look into night. Ads featuring the sets, complete with pricing and retail information, break in the November Glamour issue on newsstands next week.

Glamtone marries the magazine’s expertise in fashion and beauty with Pantone Inc.’s color authority to tap into the must-have hue for each season. The promotion kicked off in the May issue of Glamour with a four-in-one Sephora lip gloss in an azalea shade. Appearing in this month’s Glamour is a Timex Indiglo watch featuring a mandarin orange Indiglo night-light. The two prior Glamtone promotions yielded one-of-a-kind shades. However, the current gold shade was an existing Pantone color for Mary Kay.
