THE GWYNETH FACTOR: J. Crew Group doesn’t normally partner with celebrities to drive sales, but made an exception with Gwyneth Paltrow. On Thursday, the Goop Web site revealed the actress in eight head-to-toe J. Crew outfits, and almost right away, J.crew.com saw a surge of activity. “Eight percent of all our traffic since we launched with Gwyneth is being driven by Goop. That’s amazing,” a J. Crew spokeswoman said Friday. Goop, the weekly online lifestyle publication started by Paltrow, partnered with J. Crew to style the actress in eight head-to-toe looks for fall. Paltrow is photographed in J. Crew’s Italian cashmere, Thomas Mason Boy shirts, Minnie pants, Edie handbags, Stubbs & Wooton for J. Crew velvet slippers and more. “The team here has always been fans of Gwyneth’s personal style,” said J. Crew president Jenna Lyons. “She has a relaxed ease and a natural sexiness, goop is a frequent online stop for me… Cool style. Cool site.”
