Last year, Bazaar rang in its issue, which featured a portfolio of nine influential women in 32 of its global editions, with a party at The Plaza where Lady Gaga, who was a featured icon, performed.
Katy Perry is said to be the performer at the event this year, when it will also take place at The Plaza in Midtown during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 16.
Hearst declined to confirm Perry’s performance, but it did provide details on other “icons” featured in the issue.
The portfolio will showcase Mariah Carey, Jessica Chastain, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, male model Lucky Blue and Chinese pop star and actress Chris Lee (also known as Li Yuchun), transformed as their favorite historical figure or “legend.”
Roitfeld, the global fashion director of Bazaar along with the magazine’s creative director Stephen Gan worked with Goude to create a theatrical portfolio for the global editions.
This year’s Icons event partners will again include Infor and Samsung along with Cover Girl, Kit and Ace; Belvedere Vodka and Moët will create the specialty cocktails.
“What we’re trying to do with the project with Carine [Roitfeld] is to build on it every year,” offered Hearst International chief executive officer and president Duncan Edwards, who noted that this year, the company is planning a more robust rollout of the portfolio on the Web.
