LONDON — Hearst Magazines U.K., which publishes the British editions of Elle, has named James Wildman its president and chief executive officer, succeeding Anna Jones. The announcement was made by Hearst president and ceo Steven Swartz and Hearst Magazines president David Carey. He will take up his new position on April 3.

Wildman joins the company from Trinity Mirror plc, where he served as the chief revenue officer, overseeing the group’s national advertising revenue and commercial operations. Prior to this, he was managing director and vice president of sales at Yahoo U.K. He will report to Carey.

Jones will leave Hearst in February for AllBright, a funding platform for women entrepreneurs that she cofounded.

“James is entrepreneurial and has a strong track record of transforming media businesses,” said Carey. “He understands the U.K., European and global marketplace, and has a clear vision of how we can continue to move our business forward. He will be a dynamic leader of Hearst Magazines U.K., which we plan to expand in the years ahead.”

The company said Jones “encouraged experimentation and new ideas that drive revenue. She oversaw the growth of our brands on all platforms, our partnerships with Asda and Jamie Oliver, and used our brands to develop female empowerment initiatives that will continue to be a priority.”
