LONDON — Hearst Magazines International said Monday that Anna Jones has been named chief executive officer of Hearst Magazines U.K., effective immediately. Jones had been heading the company since November in her previous role as chief operating officer.

Jones’ promotion follows the departure of former Hearst Magazines U.K. ceo Arnaud de Puyfontaine, who left the firm in November to become senior executive vice president, media and content activities at Vivendi.

Jones, 39, will report to Duncan Edwards, president and ceo of Hearst Magazines International. She was appointed chief operating officer of Hearst Magazines U.K. in 2011, and prior to that served as digital and strategy director at Hachette Filipacchi U.K..

Edwards said: “[Jones] understands what consumers want, and knows how to help marketers achieve their goals,” he stated. David Carey, president of Hearst Magazines added: “Anna is strategic and collaborative: over the last five months, she’s grown our digital business, established a new corporate sales structure to better serve clients [and] launched a new marketing platform, Hearst Empowering Women…and is rolling out the first issue of Town & Country in the U.K..”
