The Hollywood Reporter’s Fifth Annual Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood issue, which hits stands Wednesday, has become a yearly exercise in the game of leapfrog as the men and women charged with dressing movie stars and musicians move up and down in the Top 25 rankings depending on a variety of factors — namely, who they’ve dressed and how big of an awards season red carpet splash their clients made.
New York-based stylist Kate Young topped this year’s list for a second time (her clients include Sienna Miller, Selena Gomez, Margot Robbie and Natalie Portman), followed by Brie Larson’s stylist Cristina Ehrlich, Cate Blanchett’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart, Saoirse Ronan’s stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, and Alicia Vikander’s stylist Victoria Sekrier.
The four covers (also a yearly tradition) feature Amy Schumer with her stylist Leesa Evans (#25); Michael B. Jordan with his stylist Jeff K. Kim (Kim made a separate, non-ranked list of in-demand men’s stylists); Larson and Ehrlich, and “Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek and Ilaria Urbinati (#6). The magazine also called out top up-and-coming stylists as well as music stylists (allowing it to be more inclusive and also give wannabes something to aspire to).
The 25 Most Powerful Stylist Dinner tonight at The Tower Bar at Sunset Tower hotel will corral most of the chosen group, who’ll be joined by clients Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Monaghan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Bella Heathcote, Tessa Thompson, Aja Naomi King and Krysten Ritter.
