A LARGER WEB: The Italian edition of online news portal The Huffington Post is set to go live in September with Lucia Annunziata at its helm. Annunziata, a former president of Italy’s State-owned television RAI and a seasoned journalist, will be editorial director of the new Web site.
Huffington Post Italia will be published by The Huffington Post Media Group in partnership with Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso, which publishes daily newspaper La Repubblica, news magazine L’Espresso and 18 regional dailies. Repubblica.it is among the most-visited Italian news sites and a La Repubblica TV channel is also active on satellite TV.
HuffPo already counts seven local editions and five international editions: The Huffington Post U.K. and The Huffington Post Canada were launched in 2011, Le Huffington Post was launched in France in January, while Le Huffington Post Québec debuted in February. International editions for Spain and Germany have been announced for 2012.
