JUNO’S JOURNEY: Glamour UK has appointed the young adult author Juno Dawson, formerly James Dawson, as a columnist.
Dawson has already begun sharing her experiences as a transgender woman starting with the February issue of Glamour. The column will move to Glamour.com, with a second installment planned for Feb. 4.
“2015 was a watershed year in terms of trans awareness, and so it feels right that a magazine for all women in a modern, diverse UK should feature a proud trans woman,” said Dawson, who thanked the title’s editor Jo Elvin for letting her tell her story.
The Brighton, England-based Dawson, who announced her transition last fall, will talk about topics ranging from the challenges of selecting a new name to what it means to be a woman in today’s society.
“Her column will be a ‘warts and all’ look at transitioning, and the countless issues raised by the experience. She is a brilliant writer, so I can promise that her column will be insightful and compelling,” Elvin said.
Dawon’s books include “Being a Boy,” “This Book is Gay,” “All of the Above,” “Hollow Pike” and “Cruel Summer.”
