RETURN ENGAGEMENT: Interview magazine has got itself a newish fearless leader. The magazine has nabbed DuJour founding coeditor Keith Pollock as its new editor in chief, following the departure of Stephen Mooallem last month. Mooallem left Interview to join Harper’s Bazaar as its executive editor, a role that Kimberly Cutter left vacant after a year on the job.

Pollock’s hire is a homecoming of sorts for the editor, who prior to DuJour served as executive editor of Brant Publications digital, which included oversight of Interview from 2008 to 2010. At Interview, Pollock will report to editorial director Fabien Baron and creative director Karl Templer. He will take the reins in time to edit Interview’s April issue, a spokeswoman said.
“I had no intention of leaving DuJour,” Pollock told WWD on Tuesday. “I was approached by Kelly Brant, Fabien, Karl and Peter [Brant]. We had several conversations, and the more we talked, the more I realized it would be a great and fitting opportunity.”
Pollock offered that both his print and digital background, as well as his knowledge of the Interview brand, “made sense” to them.
Prior to DuJour, Pollock honed his digital know-how and fashion experience at elle.com, where he served as editorial director from 2010 to 2012.
Baron said of Pollock, “His digital experience combined with his background in fashion and his reputation for creating compelling editorial will make him a key ingredient to our continued success.”
Jason Binn, chief executive officer and founder of DuJour, said, “I’m so proud of Keith, as he returns to his Interview family. We all at DuJour look forward to Nicole [Vecchiarelli] continuing to build on our success as she remains editor in chief.”
Binn said he did not intend to replace Pollock, and instead would leave his coeditor, Vecchiarelli, in charge of editorial.
