NEW PORT OF CALL: Kering has recruited a senior executive from Chanel for its communications department, WWD has learned. Valérie Duport, currently head of global public relations at Chanel and a 27-year veteran of the company, is to exit the Rue Cambon fashion house at the end of January. A Kering spokesman confirmed that Duport would join the company, but declined to elaborate.
It is understood Duport will take up some of the responsibilities previously held by Louise Beveridge, who exited Kering last October as senior vice president of communications.
Duport has a particular expertise in watches and jewelry, having been promoted from that division at Chanel in 2008. Europe’s third-largest luxury group, Kering’s portfolio of brands include Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Puma, Pomellato and Girard-Perregaux.
