LOVE’S ‘DOWNTON’ DRAMA: The leading ladies of PBS’ hit period drama “Downton Abbey” got the Katie Grand treatment for the cover of Love magazine’s fall issue. Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael and Jessica Brown Findlay (who play the ladies Mary, Edith and Sybil, respectively, in the series) each appear on three versions of the magazine’s cover looking like edgy versions of Gainsborough paintings, with their powdered faces, net veils and wine-stained lips. Grand styled the actresses, who were shot for the cover and accompanying editorial by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. “For the past two autumns, fashion’s most influential figures have been avidly watching ‘Downton Abbey,’” the magazine says, charting the show’s influence on brands from Ralph Lauren to Prada, adding: “This autumn, we’ll be wearing it.”

The issue, which takes the idea of costume drama as its theme, is Love’s largest edition to date, with 460 pages, up 6.5 percent compared with the same issue last year. Advertising pages are up 7.5 percent over the year, to 187 pages, with Belstaff, Alberta Ferretti, Kenzo and Alexander Wang among the title’s new advertisers. The issue’s editorial also spotlights an aristocratic-looking Kate Moss shot by Tim Walker at the stately home Houghton Hall, along with a Bruce Weber-lensed portrait of hip young Londoners — including Edie Campbell, Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne — that was shot over Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee holiday weekend in London.
