LIVE FROM NEW YORK: Mark Weber, whose career has spanned PVH Corp., Donna Karan International, LVMH Inc./USA, as well as authoring two business books and serving as a strategic adviser, continues to diversify his résumé. He will host a new talk show called “Always in Fashion” on New York City talk-radio station 77 WABC Radio. The one-hour weekly business talk program, which will feature Weber talking with top retailers, executives and designers from well-known fashion brands, will air every Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. E.S.T., beginning this week.
“It’s not the ideal time period, but I’m being told, if I’m interesting, we can break through,” Weber told WWD.
Throughout his career, Weber has been fascinated by radio talk shows, which he listened to attentively while driving to his Manhattan office from Long Island. And whenever he was interviewed on the radio, he always felt “extremely comfortable and conversant.”
Following the publication of his book, “Always in Fashion: From Clerk to CEO — Lessons for Success in Business and in Life,” Weber reached out to agents and explained his concept for a radio show that can teach, inspire and entertain listeners interested in fashion and business. “After a significant amount of time in the studio, auditioning, meeting people and explaining what the show could be, WABC and Cumulus Media decided this would be something that’s different.
“They have politics, they have sports, weather, but they never had anything about business/fashion from somebody who’s breathed it and lived it,” said Weber. “I have an insider’s knowledge of our industry, which I’d like to bring to the radio,” he said. Each week, Weber will choose a subject of interest, and he’s got several sponsors already lined up.
