IT’S MUMBAI FOR MASHABLE: Mashable has inked a deal with to launch “Mashable India.” The partnership brings Mashable together with Web Portal Ltd., a joint venture between Penske Media Corp. and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. PMC is the parent company of WWD.’s Web Portal publishes original content from sites including,,,, and All together properties reach out to more than 45 million unique visitors a month, according to Mashable.

Mashable will have an editorial team based in India who will report to Mashable’s U.S.-based team: executive editor Jim Roberts, managing editor Jonathan Ellis and global news editor Louise Roug. The site will provide local content and editorial coverage from that is modified for the Indian readership.

The partnership with expands Mashable’s global footprint, which began to grow last year with the opening of a U.K. office and the expansion of its editorial team in Australia. Mashable said roughly half of its 42 million monthly unique visitors come from outside the U.S., with India being a top five market for the company.
