IT’S MUMBAI FOR MASHABLE: Mashable has inked a deal with India.com to launch “Mashable India.” The partnership brings Mashable together with India.com Web Portal Ltd., a joint venture between Penske Media Corp. and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. PMC is the parent company of WWD.

India.com’s Web Portal publishes original content from sites including BGR.in, CricketCountry.com, BollywoodLife.com, TheHealthSite.com, Prepsure.com and BrownPaperBag.in. All together India.com properties reach out to more than 45 million unique visitors a month, according to Mashable.

Mashable will have an editorial team based in India who will report to Mashable’s U.S.-based team: executive editor Jim Roberts, managing editor Jonathan Ellis and global news editor Louise Roug. The site will provide local content and editorial coverage from Mashable.com that is modified for the Indian readership.

The partnership with India.com expands Mashable’s global footprint, which began to grow last year with the opening of a U.K. office and the expansion of its editorial team in Australia. Mashable said roughly half of its 42 million monthly unique visitors come from outside the U.S., with India being a top five market for the company.
