RUNNING FROM RUNWAY: Fewer fashion followers appear to be tuning in to “Project Runway” on Lifetime after the fourth week of the show’s sixth season. For Thursday night’s broadcast, 3.1 million viewers watched the fashion contest. That was down from the 4.2 million viewers who tuned in for the show’s premiere, but is still on par with 3 million average viewers for the program during its last season on Bravo. However, Bravo can brag that, for the first time, it roped in more viewers than “Runway” during the time slot. During the 10 p.m. broadcast of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Bravo collected 3.2 million viewers. Watch what happens next week. — Stephanie D. Smith
GOOD-LOOKING NEW YORKERS: Though Mayor Bloomberg made Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List this year, he didn’t make the cut for this year’s Us Weekly list of fashionable New Yorkers. The third iteration of the list will include designers Vera Wang, Catherine Malandrino and DSquared’s Dean and Dan Caten; reality stars Whitney Port and all of the bickering, entrepreneurial women from “The Real Housewives of New York”; models Elle Macpherson, Brooklyn Decker, Amber Rose and Christie Brinkley; “Good Morning America” anchor Chris Cuomo and “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd, as well as your usual Us Weekly subjects Ivanka Trump, Alicia Keys, Katrina Bowden, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Emmy Rossum. The list will be included in Us Weekly’s Wednesday issue, and the magazine will celebrate the group at a party at Chelsea gastro-lounge Avenue the same night. — S.D.S.
A SINGULAR WOMAN: Could Carine Roitfeld be the next fashion figure to segue into filmmaking? In an interview with the French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche on Sunday, the editor in chief of Paris Vogue said if she were to leave the magazine, she would like to do “a well-made film about fashion. It’s a world that’s a lot more fun than the one Robert Altman painted in ‘Prêt-à-Porter.’” As for the endless speculation that she could one day succeed Anna Wintour at the head of American Vogue, Roitfeld replied: “I would be flattered [by an offer], I would consider it, but I think I would refuse it. I’m not sure I have her strength. And also, I love fashion a lot. French Vogue is like ‘Babette’s Feast.’ Everything is important. Anna Wintour shows fashion and the collections. She sees everything and imposes her choices. Myself, I leave room for a lot of points of view.” — Miles Socha
KINSLEY KICKS IN: Atlantic Media has been called the New York Yankees of media companies for its strategy of poaching high-profile, high-traffic voices like Andrew Sullivan and Marc Ambinder (who now blog alongside some homegrown voices, too). On Friday, the company, which publishes The Atlantic magazine, revealed it was adding Michael Kinsley to its lineup to write a media column and launch an unspecified digital media property early next year. (A spokesman declined to elaborate, and several insiders professed ignorance on the new venture.) Kinsley founded Slate and was editor of The New Republic, Harper’s and The Los Angeles Times’ opinion pages. Not long ago, he griped in The New Republic about his Time columnist contract going unrenewed.
And what about Michael Hirschorn, who until recently wrote the media column for The Atlantic, including one about The New York Times’ financial prospects that kicked up a storm? Hirschorn told WWD he was ceding to time pressures from his production company, Ish Entertainment, working with the likes of Paris Hilton and Ed Burns. “I am going to remain a contributor and write when ideas arise and time frees up,” he said. — Irin Carmon
