OPRAH MEETS RALPH: With the end of her farewell season just days away, Oprah Winfrey secured herself a particularly fashionable and rare television interview — Ralph Lauren. “The Oprah Winfrey Show” disclosed that Lauren will be the subject of Wednesday’s show, and the talk show queen sat down with the fashion titan at his Telluride, Colo., RRL Ranch for his first television interview in 20 years. It’s the first time camera crews were let into the home and, in the hour-long program, Winfrey gets a glimpse into how the Laurens live, rides around the ranch in his vintage 1948 Jeep, and offers a rare look at Lauren’s antiques-filled tepees. The two chat about his career and milestones as well as his future, and Winfrey gets to catch up with Lauren’s wife, Ricky, and his children David and Dylan, who are both getting married this year, as well as Andrew.

CONDE NAST SPAIN AND EL PAIS TEAM UP: Condé Nast Spain and the Spanish news organization El Pais have partnered to launch a new weekly Spanish women’s magazine, Condé Nast International said Friday. The glossy women’s title will cover fashion, beauty, society and current affairs, and will come as a supplement to the Saturday edition of El Pais. The title is set to hit newsstands in September. Condé Nast and El Pais will produce the magazine through Conelpa, their new joint venture, and will each take a 50 percent stake in the new venture. Condé Nast International described the joint venture as a partnership between “Condé Nast’s wealth of experience and El Pais’ well-respected broadsheet.”

To head the publication, the two companies have appointed a management team that includes Empar Prieto as editorial director, Javier Pascual del Olmo as president, Maria Frias as managing director and Elena Ferreras as head of advertising. Condé Nast International said the title will capitalize “on the growing market for weekly magazines,” and noted that it will also be available in a digital format.

CHAIN REACTION: It looks like Michelle Obama is not the only first lady shopping at H&M. French weekly Voici stoked rumors that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is pregnant with a report saying she spent 300 euros, or $423.50 at current exchange, on maternity clothes at a Paris branch of the popular Swedish high street chain. H&M declined to confirm or deny the story. “We don’t usually comment on the private lives of our customers,” a spokeswoman for H&M in France said cryptically. Though Bruni-Sarkozy has kept mum so far, local advertisers have already started to capitalize on rumors she will be giving birth to twins next fall. Car rental firm Sixt has run an ad with the tag line: “Dear Mrs Bruni, will you be needing a station wagon?” while enviedefraises.com, an e-commerce site aimed at pregnant women, ran with: “So Carla, craving strawberries?”
