ART CLASS: As with all things touched by Miuccia Prada, Miu Miu’s first pre-fall campaign has an arty touch heightened by carefully choreographed portraits juxtaposed with quirky still life images.
Jamie Hawkesworth shot the ads, slated to break in a range of June magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Tatler in the U.K. and Vogue, W and Interview in the U.S.
Hawkesworth depicts up-and-coming model Estella Boersma in a variety of moods and guises, while objects include satchels plunked on a radiator with some pointe shoes.
Meanwhile, the flagship Prada brand has unveiled its pre-fall campaign in the first weekly issue of WWD, debuting today. It is also slated to appear in the June issue of international fashion publications.
Shot by Steven Meisel in his New York studio, each of the images features a male and a female model standing in front of a gray backdrop. Caught in more intimate or aloof poses, the couples reflect the influences and contradictions between men and women – themes that Miuccia Prada often explores.
The female models portrayed in the pictures are Maartje Verhoef, Willow Hand, Aya Jones, Natalie Westling, Julia Nobis, while men include Niels Trispel, Artur Chruszcz, Tim Schuhmacher, and others.
