SYDNEY – Robb Report Australia has developed an augmented reality application to be used in tandem with its digital and print editions.
Called “The Experience,” the free app has launched on the App Store and Google Play ahead of the March 27 release date of the luxury lifestyle publication’s April edition.
The AR content includes exclusive videos and 360-degree walk-throughs. It is activated when a reader chooses the “scan now” option after an interactive logo appears in content, both in the print and digital versions of the magazine.
The April edition’s AR offering includes a 3D model of a developer’s luxury property and a 3D video featuring Robb Report Australia editor in chief Michael Stahl.
The new app, which is currently unique to Robb Report Australia, was developed in response to growing market demand for more digital experiences, he said.
“By seamlessly integrating our magazine, web site and app functions with the latest in digital technology, Robb Report Australia is creating the ultimate luxury experience for readers – and in a unique and more intimate way, transforming the old experience of perusing glossy pages into something that feels real,” explained Stahl.
The Experience complements Robb Report Australia’s digital format app, which is available via subscription or one-off purchase through the App Store and Google Play.
Launched in October, Robb Report Australia is the 17th international edition of the 40 year-old Malibu, Calif.-based title. Robb Report is jointly owned by WWD’s parent company Penske Media Corp. and Rockbridge Growth Equity.
In other Robb Report news, in February three new appointments were made on its Australian team: Steve Colquhoun became digital editor. Patricia Connolly was named director of sales and strategy, and Marwan Rahme was nominated property, investments and finance advisor.
