OSCAR DE LA RENTA HEADS TO TUMBLR: A first for a luxury fashion brand, the designer’s notable Twitter personality, Oscar PR Girl, will blog on behalf of the brand at — because lets face it, sometimes 140 characters is just not enough. The blog launched today, and it’s already populated with posts about the upcoming pre-fall show on Dec. 6, including photos of in-house seamstresses making last-minute nips and tucks and petticoats from the sample room. “We see an opportunity to enhance the level of communication through images and rich media, which the platform supports beautifully. At the heart of Tumblr are creative communities and design savvy individuals, making it an excellent medium for fashion. We plan to put thoughtful, original content into the space that can be discussed and shared,” Oscar PR Girl told WWD. Design-wise it’s modern and minimalist, and there’s an accurate rendering of the publicist turned blogger in the right corner —  clad in a green-and-white printed dress, cinched at the waist, of course. “I do think it looks like me. Definitely. I don’t own that dress yet, but I will — I ordered it for spring.”


The brand will live-stream its pre-fall show Monday, so make sure to tune in at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 6.

HauteLook’s new shopping tab allows users to shop sales without ever leaving Facebook. Dedicated members can share a specific sale or product with their friends, who are then able to purchase directly from that post. It’s also the flash sale Web site’s third birthday Dec. 7, so “likes” (and members) should expect some bonuses that day.





Tibi’s Amy Smilovic can’t stop tweeting and sending Facebook updates to raise awareness about Diabetes Awareness Month, as well as the top she designed in honor of the cause. The designer was inspired by the prints of Alfred Shaheen (you can thank him for popularizing the Hawaiian shirt), who passed away from the disease in 2008. The shirt retails for $198 on, and the brand will donate $100 of every purchase to the Diabetes Research Institute.


Just in time for the release of her collaboration with artist John Badessari, Polyvore’s featured Style Expert, designer Monica Botkier, answered fashion-related questions from the Web site’s community Monday and Tuesday. Users had the chance to design tribute sets to their favorite artists and Botkier will select a winner later today, who’ll receive a Baldessari x Botkier tote.


What Not to Wear’s Clinton Kelly has an iPhone and iPad app coming out Monday that creates personalized “style prescriptions.” After filling out a series of questions relating to hair and eye color, skin tone, complexion, measurements, age, height and comfort level in heels, the StyleRx app creates custom suggestions for each user. Other features include a Style Guide, a virtual book penned by Kelly, and an interactive dressing room with product suggestions — and users can even see why the particular item was chosen for them.
