SOUND OF LUXURY: Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier has an eye for understated fashion — and an ear for eclectic music.

The Italian brand’s creative director has partnered with Parisian DJ Michel Gaubert on a two-disc compilation, “Intreccio Uno,” in time for the holidays. The selection, a medley of sounds from past runway shows and store playlists, includes pieces by French pianist Maxence Cyrin, English indie band The Heavy and Norwegian producer Lindstrøm, and is available in Bottega Veneta stores worldwide, as well as on the company Web site.

Maier stated that music opens “a door into a particular collection,” and stressed the importance of variation. “I wanted to mix different kinds of music because that way you’re sure to hear something unfamiliar,” the designer said.

“Intreccio” means weave or tangle in Italian, and the disc design, which Maier created using work by American artist and photographer Robert Longo, shows a dark woven pattern with the brand’s initials. The case cover features one of Longo’s photographs from the Bottega Veneta fall-winter 2010-11 advertising campaign.
