Has Vogue Italia zeroed in on a new editor in chief?

Market sources say Condé Nast has selected Emanuele Farneti to lead the magazine. He would succeed the late Franca Sozzani, who passed away in December. An announcement could be made as early as Friday.

Farneti holds the same title at the publishing company’s men’s magazine GQ Italia, which he joined in December 2015 after a year at the helm of Condé Nast’s Architectural Design interior design magazine.

Born in 1974, Farneti developed his journalist career in a range of Italian publications, including newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport and men’s magazines Sportweek and Men’s Health.

Sources also said Condé Nast is looking for a new fashion director with an international profile for Vogue Italia; the person would be asked to work closely with Farneti. Current Vogue Italia vice director Ariela Goggi is expected to retire soon.
