Stella’s Scotland: Stella McCartney has tapped Natalia Vodianova to appear in her fall 2015 campaign — marking the eighth time that the model has fronted McCartney’s ads — and this season, the designer has pictured the model in the wilds of Scotland.
The campaign images, shot by photographer Harley Weir, show Vodianova bending her body into graceful poses, with the sky and rugged landscape pieced together in deconstructed collages behind her, to give a topsy-turvy effect to the image.
Describing Scotland — where McCartney was partly brought up, and where she got married — as “one of the most magical, inspiring places on the planet,” the designer said she chose Scotland for the campaign’s location as its nature is “raw and real.”
“There is a masculinity to Scotland that complemented the femininity of the images we created,” McCartney said. “It is a very honest place, and to be outside with all of that nature brought a beautiful, gentle side to the photographs.”
In the campaign, Vodianova holds McCartney’s gray Noma bag, a pouchlike design in eco alter napa, a material that’s an alternative to leather. The campaign sees Weir working with McCartney for a second season. McCartney styled the campaign, while hair was by Duffy and makeup by Lauren Parson.
The ads will run as five different images in single and double page spreads, and will break in the September issues of titles such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Elle, V and Interview in the U.S., along with titles in the U.K., France, Italy, Spain, Russia, China and the Middle East.
