Luxury consignment web site The Real Real on Tuesday launched a new freestanding home category. With the launch of home, The Real Real said it offers the largest selection of pre-owned luxury products, with its 4.5 million members able to shop apparel, footwear, accessories, fine jewelry and watches as well.

The web site’s home offerings include rare and hard to find mid-century items such as an Eames plywood coffee table that was gifted from the Eames’ to a consignor’s late mother-in-law. There are also collector and heritage brands such as Knoll, Hermès, Baccarat and Herend, among others.

An upcoming sale will feature items from Jeremiah Brent, a Los Angeles-based interior designer, who has worked with Rachel Zoe.

The Real Real in April raised $40 million in Series E funding, which will be used to grow both domestically and internationally. The company, which expects to double its revenue in 2016, has said its plans include an initial public offering, although no timetable has been given.

A 15-year veteran of the industry, Kimberly Brown, whose résumé includes Design Within Reach and walmart.com, was named senior category director for home. “This new category furthers the company’s mission of being the premiere destination for luxury consignment across all categories,” Brown said. “The launch of the new home category gives customers access to incredibly rare, one-of-a-kind pieces they can’t find anywhere else.”

The Real Real’s white glove consignment service is being extended to home products. The company said it hopes to avert the headaches that can be involved with selling items such as furniture to a local consignment shop or waiting at home for pick-up. The free service includes in-home pick-up, storage, authentication and merchandising on the web site. Home items accepted by The Real Real include furniture, tabletop accessories, fine art, lighting, rugs, barware and glassware.

Alexander Calder, Donald Baechler, Donald Sultan and James Rosenquist are among the most popular artists on the site. From Hermès, one of the most sought-after design houses on The Real Real, there are Pippa side tables, $8,500; Alvar Alto lounge chair, $4,000; Eero Saarinen dining table, $2,800, and Isfahan Oriental rug, $35,000.
