MOVING UP TOP: Sheena Sauvaire, who has been at Topshop for six years, as head of marketing and later marketing director, has been promoted to chief marketing officer, succeeding Justin Cooke.


Prior to joining Topshop, Sauvaire was group account director at the London-based communications agency Exposure, whose clients included Topshop.


At Topshop, she was the driving force behind the retailer’s Kate Moss collaboration. More recently, her focus has been on building Topshop in the U.S., with flagship stores and units at Nordstrom. Sauvaire also developed the Topshop NEWGEN initiative to support design talent at London Fashion Week.


“My tenure is not going to be about repositioning the brand or reinventing the wheel but building on the success that we have already achieved,” Sauvaire told WWD. “I will be partnering with Sir Philip Green and the board to take a sharper focus on multi-channel, and to give the brand a bigger international footprint.”


Sauvaire will join the Topshop board, alongside managing director Mary Homer and creative director Kate Phelan.


Green, Topshop’s owner, said in a statement that Sauvaire has “extensive knowledge of this brand both in the U.K. and internationally, and has been instrumental in all campaigns over the last six years.”


Cooke, who spent 14 months at Topshop, left the company to launch Innovate7, an advertising and marketing agency.
