STICKER SHOCK: Gaston-Louis Vuitton, grandson of Louis Vuitton, was a frequent traveler — and he has the hotel labels to prove it. Now his collection of stickers, affixed to luggage by hotel staff for promotional purposes, have been assembled by the Vuitton company into a book titled “World Tour” and slated for a September release.


The tome is illustrated with more than 1,000 hotel labels, including ones from legendary hotels such as the Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris and the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. They date from the early Twentieth century.


Penned by Francisca Mattéoli, the book will be sold in Louis Vuitton stores and on A limited-edition version comes in a slipcase containing a map of the world and a notebook with 11 self-adhesive hotel labels, priced at 75 euros, or $92 dollars at current exchange rates. There will be a bookstore edition, priced at 49 euros, or $60 at current exchange rates.


The French version is published by Editions Xavier Barral, the English version by Abrams and there will be a Japanese version, too.
