ONE FOR TWO: The Wall Street Journal plans to launch a new global newspaper for readers in Europe and Asia. The full-color broadsheet will replace the compact newspapers currently serving each region.

“The global Wall Street Journal reflects our international ambitions and our desire to deliver a singular Journal experience to readers in the world’s most economically important cities,” said Gerard Baker, The Wall Street Journal editor in chief.

The global edition will launch in mid-September, targeting financial capitals such as London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Paris and Shanghai. It will be available daily Monday through Friday, as is already the case for editions outside of the U.S. In addition to the paper’s usual business fare, the Friday edition will have expanded lifestyle, arts, food, wine, design and real estate coverage, according to a newspaper spokeswoman.

The WSJ will also be launching enhanced iPad and Android editions for subscribers in Europe and Asia in September.

WSJ. Magazine is unaffected by the move.
