WEBER’S BOOK: Mark Weber, chief executive officer of LVMH Inc. and chairman and ceo of Donna Karan International, is now also an author. Weber is working on a book about his career as a fashion industry executive with the working title “Always in Fashion.” It is expected to focus on his career highs, lows and everything he learned along the way.

“When you think about young people, after Hollywood and music, fashion is the most important thing in their lives,” Weber told WWD. “It’s an industry people are really very interested in. So, having spent all this time in fashion, I realized that I have accumulated a lot of knowledge, and stories about what it takes to be successful, the dos and don’ts, the pitfalls and things people should think about.”

A member of the executive committee of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton with three decades of experience at PVH before that, Weber said he is now in a position to give back and “help guide people into a career in fashion.”

The main takeaway, he hopes, will be “that the fashion business is interesting; that you can become successful in it, and that you ought to be thinking about things that might be not be obvious to you, but are important if you want to get ahead.”

The book is slated to launch globally around next February’s New York Fashion Week. Mary Glenn, associate publisher of McGraw-Hill Professional, which is publishing the book, cited several reasons Weber’s story was appealing, among them his extensive “experience in working with some of the world’s leading brands, the fascinating story of how he has moved up in one of the most competitive and desired industries and his never-before-told stories featuring top designers and celebrities.”
