The label, which was controlled by the Palamon Capital Partners private equity since 2015, has been acquired by Look Holdings Inc.
Listed on the Tokyo stock exchange, Look Holdings Inc. is the brand’s Japanese distributor and licensee since the Nineties, operating 42 stores of the label.
“We’re satisfied of this opportunity and we thank Palamon for boosting the brand’s growth and development through these years,” said Il Bisonte chief executive officer Sofia Ciucchi. “We have invested a lot in the product and company structure and now, with the support of Look, we are ready to strengthen the international vocation of the brand.”
Il Bisonte was founded in 1970 by Wanny di Filippo, who established the label in a small laboratory in Florence. Over the past four years, under Palamon’s control, the brand was relaunched and expanded internationally, opening showrooms in London, New York and Hong Kong, rolling out in the U.S. and Middle East as well as consolidating its presence in Asia opening direct stores.
The label is available in 400 doors globally, doubling its sales points since 2015. Revenues also increased to reach 40 million euros last year.
