Rick Platt has joined Marvin Traub Associates as managing director of licensing.

Platt, a 30-year industry veteran, was previously division president at Sequential Brands Group and president of Brand Matter. His primary focus has been in licensing, marketing, retail and textiles. He also has spent seven years in sports marketing with both Major League Baseball and the National Football League. Other brands that he has worked with in the past include: Canon; Royal Velvet; Fieldcrest; Polaroid; Bombay Company; Linens-N-Things; Ellen Tracy; Caribbean Joe; Robert Graham, and Hudson Jeans, to name a few.

Mortimer Singer, Traub’s chief executive officer, said, “Licensing is one of the most important tools available to brand owners on their path to becoming global brands. Rick’s knowledge in the licensing industry is deep. His stellar reputation will be a great asset to the firm and will greatly enhance our licensing activities His relationships are broad and strong and we are delighted to have him join the family.”

Platt said, “The global licensing business has evolved into a dynamic, nuanced and valuable business model.”

Platt left Sequential in July when his contract ended.
