Macerich, which is adding more than 300,000 square feet of space to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, Calif., today revealed that it has signed 45 retailers to fill the square footage.
Macy’s will add 57,000 square feet to its footprint and relocate its men’s store from a separate location at Broadway Plaza and incorporate it into the department store. With the addition of the men’s store, Macy’s will have 247,000 square feet of space in the mall. The larger store will also have a renovated handbag area and cosmetics floor as well as updated environments for fine jewelry and watches.
New specialty stores will include Arhaus, Aritzia, Athleta, Eileen Fisher, Everything But Water, Gap, Hanna Andersson, H&M, Ivivva, J. Crew, J. Jill, Kiehl’s, Kit & Ace, L’Occitane, Lou & Grey, Lucky Brand Jeans, Lululemon Athletica, Lush, Madewell, Michael Kors, Pandora, Soma, SoulCycle, Tesla, The Walking Company, True Religion Brand Jeans, Vince Camuto, Victoria’s Secret, White House | Black Market and Zara.
Macerich considers Arthaus, Gap, H&M and Zara as anchors and is building two-level stores for those tenants.
The real estate developer was able to expand the property by demolishing an older, inefficient parking structure and repurposing about 80,000 square feet of existing retail space.
About half of the new stores will open in time for the holiday season, with the balance bowing in 2016.
