Ralph Lauren today said it has leased an additional 350,000 square feet at RXR Realty’s Starrett-Lehigh building at 601 West 26th Street in Manhattan. The building is a popular address for creative businesses with fashion tenants such as Sequential Brands, Jessica Simpson and Ellen Tracy. Lauren already occupies 132,700 square feet at the 2.3 million-square-foot Starrett-Lehigh since relocating its North American business operations there last year. Club Monaco has offices there as well.
Ralph Lauren’s corporate headquarters will remain at 650 Madison Avenue. The additional square footage at Starrett-Lehigh will allow the company to consolidate employees scattered across locations at 625 Madison Avenue, 550 Seventh Avenue and several other midtown buildings, by moving them to the new space on the far West Side.
The move to locate teams together in updated spaces with open floor plans and amenities such as on-site fitness facilities and dedicated outdoor space is part of a larger global effort to encourage collaboration and connectivity. Functions moving to Starrett-Lehigh will include marketing, digital and innovation. Phased relocation beginning in 2019 will be completed by year’s end.
Ralph Lauren’s expansion at 601 West 26th Street builds on its recently announced lease of a building in the ON3 development in Nutley, N.J., that will house employees shifting over from its Lyndhurst, N.J., office, as well as some operations from Manhattan. The company also consolidated and updated its corporate and distribution center in Greensboro, N.C., to support more connectivity across the business. The moves, the company said, represent more efficient use of capital and support Ralph Lauren’s Next Great Chapter, whose goal is to drive sustainable, long-term growth and value creation.
