AN APP FOR THAT: A new app developed for Taubman Centers should make it easier for shoppers to get from point A to point B in no time.

The shopping center operator said a free app, designed for Android and iPhone, has been rolled out to 14 of its centers with at least another three in line for it in the near future. Users can find stores or restaurants, access store promotional information and save their favorite stores.

The app was tested at the Mall at University Town Center, upon UTC’s grand opening in October 2014. Today’s announcement expands the app’s use to Cherry Creek Shopping Center, Dolphin Mall, Fair Oaks Mall, Great Lakes Crossing Outlets, International Plaza, Mall at Green Hills, Mall of San Juan, Mall at Short Hills, Stamford Town Center, Sunvalley Shopping Center, Taubman Prestige Outlets, Twelve Oaks Mall and Westfarms.

The company late last year continued its rollout of the StepsAway app to malls in New Jersey, Connecticut, Tennessee and Florida. Ten of its centers now have StepsAway. The app is a way for retailers to get in front of customers who are signed into the center’s Wi-Fi, which is provided by the app-maker. From there, shoppers will be able to view store-specific promotions.

The developments on the technology front come as Taubman is set to make an announcement Monday evening on the details of a major renovation at its 886,000-square-foot Beverly Center in Los Angeles that’s anchored by Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. Other tenants there include Saint Laurent, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Jimmy Choo, Prada and Halston Heritage.
